Artist Bio

Joy Feasley (b. 1966) studied at Massachusetts College of Art, Cooper Union, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Feasley explores narrative themes with supernatural undercurrents, adding bold patterns and colorful interventions within the landscapes she creates. Working primarily with flat vinyl paint on an intimate scale, her paintings perhaps appear graphic from afar yet embrace the intimacy and energy of the hand upon close inspection. In each of her scenes is a palpable sense of wonder and curiosity—something that has been further developed in Feasley’s sculptural explorations and environmental installations.

In 2011, Feasley was a recipient of a prestigious Pew Fellowship in the Arts. She has exhibited extensively in Philadelphia, including recent exhibitions at the Fabric Workshop and Museum, the Temple Gallery, the Institute of Contemporary Art at the University of Pennsylvania, the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial, Vox Populi, and Project Room. Her work has also been exhibited in recent group and solo exhibitions in Chicago, Raleigh, and Tokyo. Works by the artist can be found in the collections of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the West Collection.
