Between gesture, line, and shape, Painting Universes traces the inner and outer dimensions of abstract painting. Intuitive mark-making, improvisational gestures, methodical brushstrokes, irregular geometries and improbable materialities, from the calm to the climactic to the wildest of applications, this exhibition weaves together a dynamic history of abstraction in a single whimsical walkthrough.
