Emanation is the title of an ambitious new project at WheatonArts that forwards a strategic goal to enhance programs and exhibits through a deepened level of collaboration and interactivity with artists.

This project includes three major program components: artist residencies during which invited artists will create new work using glass; an eight-month exhibition of the work created during the residencies; and education and interpretation geared to public audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Emanation’s participating artists are Mark Dion, Paula Hayes, Carolyn Healy and John Phillips, Donald Lipski, Virgil Marti, Michael Oatman, Judy Pfaff, Jocelyne Prince, Rob Wynne, and Mark Zirpel, (Artist bios and images are available at wheatonarts.org and glassweekend.com.) The Museum of American Glass will present their final work in the exhibition, Emanation: Art + Process, opening May 1, 2015.

The exhibition continues through January 4, 2016. Emanation: Art + Process will be a highlight of GlassWeekend ’15 on June 12, 13 and 14, an existing biennial event which attracts glass artists, curators, galleries and collectors from around the U.S. Guest demonstrating artists to be featured at GlassWeekend include Amber Cowan and Luke Jerram. They will join many of the exhibiting artists, special guest gaffers, and a select group of former Fellows of WheatonArts’ Creative Glass Center of America program, for a special two-day studio event, “The Glass Yard: Object/not,” on June 13 and 14. The event will be organized by artist and WheatonArts Glass Studio Creative Director, Hank Murta Adams. Other GlassWeekend activities include gallery exhibitions, lectures, hands-on glassmaking, and museum tours.
