Works on Paper, a mixed-media exhibition of drawings and collages by ten artists will be on view at Locks Gallery from November 16th through December 17th, 2005. The opening reception will be held on Friday, December 2nd from 5:30–7:30 pm. Admission is free and open to the public.
This large-scale exhibition contains 40 works by the following artists: Donald Baechler, Jennifer Bartlett, Chuck Fahlen, Neysa Grassi, Nancy Graves, Ray Johnson, Kurt Lightner, Suzanne McClelland, Elizabeth Murray, and Frank Stella.
The juxtaposing of new and found images (Baechler, Johnson), and the artists ' dexterous handling of materials - ink, watercolor, gouache, and collage - create fresh, colorful and textured works on paper. These drawings and collages, all regarded as independent works of art, present an element of intimacy and immediacy in the creative practice of the artists.
