Jun Kaneko has debuted a major public art commission in Lincoln, NE. The glass and steel spire, called Ascent, is 57 feet tall and used a team of glass specialists from Germany to aid in the fabrication of the panels. The work contains 80 panels, each 7 feet tall and 160 pounds of two-layered tempered glass, finished with a final layer of hand-blown, hand-cut stained glass in Kaneko's iconic colored patterns. Around the tower is additional ceramic tile and steel pipe structures as well as a plaza with a concentric black and white circle pattern, all designed by Kaneko.
