Press Release

June 10, 2006, Philadephia, PA – Locks Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of paintings by William T. Wiley. Focusing on works from the 1990s, Wiley  's richly layered paintings contain maps, doodles, diagrams, and insets. The deceptively thin scrims of paint, painted on raw canvas, reveal intricately detailed drawings reminiscent of the Northern Renaissance and in particular Albrecht Durer.

William T. Wiley has exhibited nationally and internationally since the 1960s. His work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Hirschorn Musem and Sculpture Garden, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, among others
